Our Sun-Active-Cream is a high-quality product which works 3-times from the outside:
1. It activates the body-own, enzyme tyrosinase and leads to a skin tanning.

The Sun-Active cream is no self-tanner or something like that and therefore there is also no chemical reaction on your skin. In fact Sun-Active supplies your skin with the important amino acid tyrosine, which is converted into melanine via the body-own enzyme tyrosinase. To better understand this process, please grant us a few words about the basics of the skin-tanning process.
To protect against the dangerous UV radiation the body is, amongst others possibilities, able to produce melanine. Melanine is a pigment that is produced by the melanozytes (tanning-cells) and which is responsible for our skin, hair and eye colour.
If the skin is exposed to the sun, the emerging skin tan forms a natural protection system against the dangerous actinism (mainly UVA radiation) for protection of the dermis and protection against skin ageing. Melanozytes look like little octopuses with long arms. They can be found in the basal cell layer and are responsible for the protection of the keratinocytes (cells of the epidermis). Most melanozytes can be found in the area of the face and the genitals, on the upper part of the body and the extremities it is only about the half.
The reaching UV rays cause the melanozytes to produce melanine. Tyrosine - an amino acid - oxidised, melanine is build and supplied to the surrounding cells via the “octopus arms”. There it becomes a shield for the cell core, to protect it against the UV radiation.
The cells provided with melanine come up to the surface of the skin (which needs a few days) and are giving the skin its tan. The maximum melanine production is reached after about 3 weeks. Everybody has the same amount of melanozytes, but the melanine production can be very different. From the age of 40, the activity and number of melanozytes decreases.
As there is only a small amount of tyrosine in the skin, Sun-Active supplies more tyrosine. The skin-own enzyme tyrosinase is then transforming the tyrosine into melanine. Therewith a natural, seamless tan emerges. Even in the dark! In connection with sunlight, respectively daylight, the tanning is faster and more intensive. Furthermore the tanning remains longer.
